Founded in 1996 and headquartered in Houston, Texas, we started as a privately-held healthcare interim management company. Nearterm adopted strategies to become a leader in financial management consulting services. We expanded our offerings along the way as we acquired Excel Unlimited, Inc, a healthcare executive search firm and Scott & Matthews, Inc., a healthcare revenue cycle consulting practice.

President and Founder
Jim has over twenty years of success as a professional recruiter. He specializes in the recruitment of healthcare executives, with emphasis on Chief Financial Officers, Directors of Patient Financial Services and Medical Records Directors.
Jim has been a Houston Association of Personnel Consultants Top Ten Nominee every year from 1988 and a Texas Association of Personnel Consultants Top Fifteen Nominee from 1988 through 1998. Jim was also the Founder and CEO of Excel Unlimited, Inc. an executive search firm specializing in healthcare recruiting.
Secretary / Treasurer and Founder
Upon receiving his B.A. from Central State University, in 1973, Jim pursued a successful career with several provider organizations. In 1990, he founded Scott & Matthews, Inc., which merged with Nearterm in 2008. The architect of many A/R turnarounds, Jim is a recognized authority in healthcare management practices and has spoken frequently before HFMA and AAHAM groups.
His practical application of expertise and experience has added an enhanced level of value to the professional services offered by Nearterm.
Director of Operations
Gayle has over 20 years’ experience as a professional Healthcare Recruiter. Her specialization is solely in the Healthcare Financial Management and Revenue Cycle Operations. Gayle is a vital part of Nearterm’s Interim Management Division and is a major influence in the Healthcare Finance/Revenue Cycle Permanent Placement Division.
For the past 20 years Gayle has been nominated several times for the Top Ten Producer in Houston, Texas and Top Fifty Producer in the state of Texas. As a leader in Nearterm’s Interim Management/Contract Division, she has been an integral part in leading the team to being nominated the Number 1 Interim/Contract Team in the State of Texas for over 15 years in a row. Gayle has built loyal repeat clients through gaining a thorough understanding of their needs and delivering what her clients desire. Her areas of concentration primarily include Chief Financial Officers, Controllers, Revenue Cycle Directors and Health Information Management Directors.

Jim has been an Executive Search Consultant for C-Suite executives in the Healthcare Industry for the past 24 years. He joined Nearterm Corporation in May of 1996 to focus on providing professional consulting services to Hospitals, specifically in the Finance and Revenue Cycle Management space.
His areas of specialization include but are not limited to Chief Financial Officers, Revenue Cycle Directors, Health Information Management Directors, and Clinical Documentation Improvement Specialists.
Since joining Nearterm he’s been a leader and major influence in the development and growth of the Healthcare Division. Today our service lines include; Consulting, Interim Management, Executive Search, Outsourcing and Project Staffing.
Jim has been a Houston Area Association of Personnel Consultants Top Ten Nominee and a Texas Association of Personnel Consultants Top Fifteen Nominee every year since 1995.
Kathryn LaBrosse is the Business Manager of Nearterm Corporation. Kathryn joined the administrative team at Nearterm nearly 20 years ago and has never looked back. Working her way up through the company to her current role, she has consistently stepped into increasing responsibilities and brought her individual drive, Texas determination, and vision to the executives, clients, and employees alike in her Nearterm family.
Utilizing her cumulative knowledge of 40 years of assisting executives and employees in fields including: insurance, law, education, retail, petro-chemical, and the recruiting industry; she utilizes her patent approach to keeping Nearterm running like a well-oiled machine, and shining like a star in their client’s view. The words “no” and “that can’t be done” are not in her vocabulary.
